ACT Policing is seeking to identify a man who may have intervened in an alleged assault that occurred near Lake Ginninderra in Belconnen earlier this month.
About 5:45pm on Thursday, 2 April (2026), two women were confronted by a young person who allegedly made racial comments toward them on Macdermott Place near Lake Ginninderra.
The women spoke to the child before the child's mother, who was not known to the women, confronted them and allegedly punched one woman in the head repeatedly.
Following the assault, it is alleged the mother produced a knife and made threats to the victim and her friend before leaving the scene.
The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After investigations into this matter, including speaking to multiple witnesses, police believe a man attempted to intervene in the incident. To date, he has not come forward, and his identity is unknown.
ACT Policing is asking this man to provide his details to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 8345990.
