Structure

The Chief Police Officer (CPO) is responsible to the ACT Minister for Police and Emergency Services for the achievement of outcomes set out in the Purchase Agreement and the Ministerial Direction.

The CPO is also responsible for the general management and control of personnel and resources used to provide quality police services to the ACT community. The CPO is supported by Deputy Chief Police Officer and three functional streams: Operations, Investigations and Corporate Services.

More than 900 staff in ACT Policing are committed to the delivery of policing services to the ACT, each one committed to ensuring the safety of our community. 

Deputy Chief Police Officer

The Deputy Chief Police Officer leads the following areas:

  • Operations Command
  • Investigations Command
  • Employee Welfare

Operations Portfolio

The Operations Portfolio is managed by Commander Operations and is comprised of the following areas:

  • Family Violence and Vulnerable Persons
  • Road Policing and Emergency Planning
  • North District (Gungahlin, Belconnen and City Police Stations)
  • South District (Woden and Tuggeranong Police Stations and External Territories).

Investigations Portfolio

The Investigations Portfolio is managed by Commander Investigations, the portfolio has the following areas:

  • Intelligence
  • Communications
  • Judicial Operations
  • Criminal Investigations

Corporate Services

Corporate Services is managed by the Executive General Manager Corporate and provides support functions to ACT Policing operational teams. Areas include:

  • Legislation and Governance
  • Human Resources
  • Finance and Commercial
  • ACT Policing Futures Program
  • Communications and Government Relations
