A 36-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly assaulting and threating to kill his partner.
About 8:35pm last night (Thursday, 10 September 2026) police attended a residence in Pearce following reports of a disturbance between the man and his partner.
Police will allege the man held a knife to the woman’s throat and threatened to kill her before fleeing the residence.
Upon arrival, officers conducted patrols of the surrounding area but were unable to locate the man.
Later that evening, the man allegedly returned to the residence and forced entry into his partner’s bedroom.
Police will allege he then punched the woman in the face multiple times, choked her and again held a knife to her throat while threatening to kill her before leaving the residence.
The incident was reported to police, and officers arrested the man nearby after he allegedly attempted to flee.
The 36-year-old man, who was on parole, has been charged with two counts of aggravated reckless threat to inflict grievous bodily harm, and one count of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
