Man charged with murder of mother
A 51-year-old O’Connor man has been charged with murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed his mother yesterday morning.
About 8:45am yesterday (Thursday, 14 May 2026), police and emergency services were called to a residence on Dryandra Street in O'Connor following reports the man had allegedly stabbed his 79-year-old mother with a knife.
Sadly, she was declared deceased during transportation to hospital.
The 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital. He was later charged with murder.
The man’s father was also injured during the incident and was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The 51-year-old will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 15 May 2026).

A 51-year-old man has been arrested after a woman was killed at a residence in O’Connor this morning.
About 8:45am this morning (Thursday, 14 May 2026), police and emergency services were called to a residence on Dryandra Street in O'Connor following reports a man had allegedly stabbed a relative with a knife.
ACT Ambulance Service paramedics treated the woman at the scene for critical injuries before transporting her to hospital. Sadly, she was declared deceased during transportation.
Another man, who was also a resident of the home, was transported to hospital for injuries he sustained during the incident.
The 51-year-old man was arrested at the scene and transported to hospital where he remains under police guard.
Enquiries into the incident are continuing and charges are expected to be laid at a later date.
