A 29-year-old woman, who was subject to bail conditions, has been charged with burglary after she allegedly broke into a Hackett home and stole property early this morning.
About 12:35am this morning (Sunday, 3 May 2026), police received a report from a resident who returned home, to their Hackett address, and found a woman in the carport area.
Police will allege the woman gathered property into bags before leaving the home on foot, with the resident following her.
A short time later, an unrelated member of the public approached the pair and spoke with them, during which the woman allegedly made threats to stab him.
Police later located the woman in Watson and subsequently arrested her.
A search of her belongings allegedly uncovered several items believed to have been stolen from the Hackett address, along with a knife, a student card and mail addressed to other people.
The woman has been charged with burglary, reckless threat to inflict grievous bodily harm, attempt minor theft, possessing stolen property and possessing a knife without a reasonable excuse. She is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, 4 May 2026).
