ACT Policing is seeking witnesses following an attempted armed robbery in Charnwood last night.
About 9:10pm (Thursday, 7 May 2026), a stolen white Land Rover Discovery stopped on Grono Place in Charnwood and two men exited the vehicle.
They approached a 19-year-old man who was sitting in his car nearby and allegedly attempted to steal his mobile phone and vehicle.
During the incident, one man assaulted the teenager with a knife and the other struck him on the head with a firearm. A nearby resident called police and the two men fled on foot.
ACT Ambulance Service paramedics assessed the victim at the scene before he was taken to hospital for treatment.
Both of the alleged offenders were wearing black clothing and face coverings during the incident. The Land Rover that was abandoned at the scene had been reported stolen earlier that day from Melba.
