A 40-year-old helmetless scooter rider, who was on parole, has been charged with drug trafficking after he was stopped by police early this morning.
About 3am today (Friday, 15 May 2026) City Station general duties officers were conducting mobile patrols in Doonkuna Street, Braddon when they observed a man on an electric scooter who was not wearing a helmet.
After asking the rider to stop and the rider refusing to do so, they soon caught up with the man and detained him.
A search of his possessions located multiple small clip seal bags that contained material that has presumptively tested positive as heroin and methylamphetamine. It was also confirmed that the man was granted parole from prison in April this year.
He was subsequently charged with breaching his parole, drug trafficking and failing to wear a helmet while on a mobility device. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.
Anyone who has information about the distribution and sale of illicit drugs in the ACT region is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
