A 42-year-old man will face court today charged with multiple driving offences following a pursuit through north Canberra suburbs yesterday.

About 10:55am yesterday (Friday, 8 May 2026), police were conducting patrols on Lady Denman Drive in Acton when they observed a black Audi Q5 travelling at speed City bound towards Clunies Ross Street.

Officers observed the Audi to be travelling at 130km/h in an 80km/h zone.

Police activated their emergency lights and sirens, but the vehicle failed to pull over and continued driving at high speed through nearby suburbs and then proceeded towards Belconnen.

As the vehicle approached Bindubi Street, police deployed a tyre deflation device striking the two front wheels of the Audi. The Audi proceeded to drive through a red light and continued westbound on Belconnen Way.

The Audi continued driving dangerously in Macquarie and Cook, driving on footpaths and causing a member of the public to jump out of the way to avoid getting hit.

The Audi came to a stop in Biffin Street in Cook, with the driver fleeing the scene.

Officers engaged in a short foot pursuit, with the driver allegedly damaging a side gate of a nearby residence before running into the front porch area of another residence, where police arrested the 42-year-old man.

The man, who was in breach of an existing good behaviour order, refused to undergo a drug screening test and was transported to the ACT Watchhouse.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 9 May 2026) charged with aggravated dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, unlicenced driver, property damage and refusing to undergo a screening test.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the incident or vehicle yesterday morning to come forward.

Anyone who can assist police should provide their contact details to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 8379844. Information can be provided anonymously.
