A 20-year-old Spence man has been charged following an alleged shooting incident in Belconnen earlier this week.

About 9:40pm on Monday (25 May 2026), the man was driving a Ford Focus along Ginninderra Drive, Florey when he interacted with a Holden Cruze carrying occupants known to him.

Police will allege that during the interaction, the Ford Focus rammed the Holden Cruze multiple times and a firearm was discharged at the vehicle.

The occupants called police and when officers arrived, they observed the Holden Cruze in the gutter at the intersection of Ginninderra Drive and Kerrigan Street.

None of the occupants of the Holden were injured during the incident.

An investigation was commenced by ACT Policing’s Major Crime Squad and about 12:30am today (Friday, 29 May 2026), police conducted a traffic stop on an Audi sedan travelling along the Federal Highway in Majura.

The 20-year-old man was a passenger, and a search of the vehicle uncovered a Ford car key suspected to belong to the Ford Focus used in the incident.

About 1:40am, police located the Ford Focus at an address in Ngunnawal. The vehicle displayed damage consistent with the alleged incident and was seized for forensic examination.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.

He has been charged with discharging a firearm at a car and furious driving. He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
