Man charged following alleged family violence incidents

An 18-year-old man has been charged with multiple family violence offences after allegedly attacking his former partner over a three month period.

Between March and May (2026), police allege the man strangled, assaulted and stalked his former partner on various occasions.

In one incident, the man allegedly drove his car down a street while his former partner was on top of the car’s bonnet.

The incidents were recently reported to police and about 4:30pm yesterday (Sunday, 24 May 2026), the man was arrested outside Gungahlin Police Station.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 25 May 2026) charged with two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated stalking, acts endangering life with an offensive weapon and act endangering health - strangle.
