Man charged after allegedly assaulting two security guards

A 38-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting two security guards in the Canberra Centre on Saturday afternoon.

About 4:45pm (Saturday, 9 May 2026), police received reports that a man had allegedly punched, kicked and struck two security guards before leaving the scene on foot.

Police were provided a description of the man and a short time later, officers located him on London Circuit and he was placed under arrest.

The 38-year-old man, who had an outstanding arrest warrant, will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 11 May 2026) charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, breach of good behaviour obligations and fail to appear after bail undertaking.
