An elderly woman has been located deceased following a house fire in Hughes early this morning.
About 1:20am this morning (Saturday, 2 May 2026), police and ACT Fire & Rescue were called to the scene of a house fire in Hughes.
On arrival, the house was well alight. The fire was extinguished but the sole occupant, the elderly woman, was sadly located deceased inside the home.
The cause of the house fire is not yet known.
