Cash, firearms and drugs have been seized and a 48-year-old Belconnen man charged with multiple offences following a search warrant last night.
About 7.40pm yesterday (Thursday, 30 April 2026) officers from multiple ACT Policing Major Crime Teams attended a residence in Belconnen to execute a search warrant.
At the home, police located:
- Approximately $40,000 in cash
- A loaded sawn-off shotgun
- A loaded lever-action rifle
- Ammunition for both firearms
- A trafficable quantity of cannabis
- Clip seal bags containing what is believed to be methamphetamine
- A small weight scale believed to be used to weigh illicit drugs
- A currency counter
- Evidence of cryptocurrency totaling approximately $100, 000
A 48-year-old resident of the home was subsequently charged with traffic in cannabis, unauthorised possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of property suspected to be the proceeds of crime. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates court today (Friday, 1 May 2026) where bail will be opposed.
ACT Policing will continue to target the possession and movement of illegal and unregistered firearms. Removing these items from circulation is a priority for police as each illegally held item poses a risk to the community.
