A man has been extradited from NSW while another has been arrested in Theodore with both to face court today charged with serious family violence offences.
In October last year (2025) an arrest warrant was issued for a 51-year-old man who police allege punched and headbutted his partner while they were staying at a Canberra hotel.
The man was located in Yass last week and yesterday (Friday, 13 March 2026) he was extradited to the ACT. He faces two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm and contravening a family violence order.
A second man will also face court today after incidents this week where he allegedly punched, strangled and threatened his partner. The 27-year-old was arrested at a Theodore residence yesterday as he was threatening his former partner with a meat cleaver while she was in her vehicle.
He has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, possess offensive weapon with intent, aggravated choke a person rendering them insensible, aggravated intentional threat to kill a person and breaching a bail condition not to approach his former partner.
Both men will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 14 March 2026).
