A 31‑year‑old Turner man will face court today following an investigation into a series of thefts, burglaries, and property damage incidents across Canberra over four months.
In November (2025) and January (2026), the man allegedly broke into multiple vending machines at a Canberra University and student accommodation in Belconnen. He allegedly stole multiple items and cash.
About 5.00am on 24 February 2026, the man allegedly stole a lockbox containing keys from the front of a city restaurant before returning a short time later and using the keys to enter the premises.
Police will allege the man then forced open safes and stole a significant sum of cash, as well as electronic devices.
The same date the man checked into a short‑stay apartment in Dickson where he allegedly damaged the apartment and stole several items.
About 10am yesterday (Wednesday, 4 March 2026), police located and arrested the man in Turner. During the arrest, officers seized a quantity of crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine and other suspected stolen items.
Following his arrest police executed search warrants at his home and on his vehicle, locating a sum of cash, cannabis, and electronic devices.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, (Thursday 5 March 2026) charged with three counts of property damage, two counts of burglary, two counts of theft, drive while disqualified and trafficking controlled drugs.
