A 48-year-old man will face court today after allegedly assaulting his wife, stealing items from her, and resisting arrest.

Between June and July last year (2025), the man allegedly assaulted his wife in the backyard of their home.

On Friday afternoon (27 March 2026), the woman obtained a laptop computer and mobile phone from a domestic violence support service.

When she returned, the man allegedly took the electronic devices from her before locking her outside of the home.

The incidents were reported to police and about 1:15pm on Saturday (28 March 2026), police attended the residence to arrest the man.

The man ran away from police and resisted as officers were trying to arrest him. He was arrested a short time later and transported to the ACT Watch House.

He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 30 March 2026) charged with three counts of resist territory public official, and one count each of aggravated common assault and theft.
