A 23-year-old Rivett man has been charged with multiple family violence and driving offences following an incident yesterday.
About 5:20pm yesterday, (Thursday, 26 March 2026) police were called to a disturbance at a home in Rivett.
Officers attended the location and observed a man leaving the scene in a vehicle. Police spoke to two women at the home, who alleged they had been assaulted multiple times by the man including striking and choking them.
A traffic stop was attempted on the vehicle which subsequently failed to stop for police.
About 7:30pm officers located the man and his vehicle driving in Kambah. The driver allegedly attempted to again evade police, with additional officers locating the man and his vehicle soon after.
He was subsequently charged with five counts of aggravated common assault, two counts of choke/suffocate/strangle another person, forcible confinement, fail to stop and use unregistered vehicle. He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 27 March 2026).
