A 28-year-old O’Connor man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted three police officers while being arrested for breaching his bail conditions.
About 10am yesterday (Wednesday, 4 March 2026), police were responding to a separate incident on Knox Street in Watson when they saw the man riding a motorcycle without a helmet.
Officers stopped the man and placed him under arrest for riding a motor vehicle while being unlicenced, breaching his bail conditions.
The man then became aggressive towards police, allegedly striking two officers in the face and biting the leg of a third.
After he was restrained, a search of his belongings uncovered more than 40 grams of a while crystalline substance suspected of being methamphetamine, a sum of cash and multiple prescription medications.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 5 March 2026), charged with three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, three counts of assaulting a frontline community service provider, and one count each of drug trafficking, riding while unlicenced, failing to wear a helmet, and attempting to escape from custody.
