Man arrested following theft of trading cards

A 33-year-old man has been charged after allegedly stealing trading cards worth thousands from a store in the city.

On 5 February (2026), police received a report that a collectible store in Acton had been broken into and multiple trading cards were stolen.

Officers from City Police Station began an investigation and yesterday (Friday, 6 March 2026), a search warrant was executed at the man’s home in Belconnen.

Police seized trading cards with serial numbers matching those stolen from the store, as well as a mobile phone which will be subject to further forensic examination.

The man, who was subject to bail conditions, will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 7 March 2026), charged with burglary, theft, property damage, and failing to comply with a section 3LA order.

A number of cards stolen from the store are yet to be recovered and police are appealing for anyone with information about the recent sale of Pokémon trading cards in Canberra to come forward.
