A 59-year-old woman will face court after allegedly making 14 non-emergency calls to police overnight.

Police will allege between 9:20pm (Monday, 8 June 2026) and 1:45am (Tuesday, 9 June 2026), the woman made 14 calls to Triple Zero.

She was told to stop making non-emergency calls to police, but she allegedly continued to call.

About 2am, officers attended the woman’s residence in Phillip and placed her under arrest.

She will face the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with 14 counts of make vexatious call to emergency service number.

It is an offence under ACT and Commonwealth legislation to make a false report to police, to cause police or other emergency service resources to be wasted, or to make harassing phone calls to emergency services.

Inappropriate use of the Triple Zero number can potentially delay the response to those in genuine need, such as those who are in a life-threatening situation.
