ACT Policing is seeking witnesses and dash-cam footage after a vehicle clipped a police car and almost struck an officer who was conducting a traffic stop.

About 9:50pm last night (Monday, 8 June 2026), police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Hindmarsh Drive in Waramanga.

While an officer approached the vehicle, another car – believed to be an SUV - collided with the police vehicle, knocking the wing mirror off and narrowly avoiding striking the officer.

The driver then failed to stop and continued driving west along Hindmarsh Drive.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the collision, or of an SUV travelling along Hindmarsh Drive around 9:50pm last night, to come forward.

Anyone who can assist police should contact Crime Stoppers via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote 8409685.
