A 38-year-old Bhutanese national has been extradited from Perth after failing to appear in court on family violence charges.
In April last year (2025) police were called to a Scullin home following reports of a disturbance.
After speaking to the parties involved, a 38-year-old man was charged with aggravated common assault and aggravated property damage.
He received bail to appear in court in May 2025. The man failed to appear for this hearing and an arrest warrant was issued by the court.
Earlier this week the man was identified attempting to leave Australia and was stopped by Australian Border Force officers.
ACT Policing sought the man’s extradition from Western Australia, and last night the man was flown back to the ACT.
He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 12 June 2026).
ACT Policing takes all family violence incidents seriously. When people fail to appear in court and leave the ACT – interstate arrest and extradition back to the ACT will always be considered.
