Man charged with firearms offences following search warrants

A 24-year-old man has been charged with firearms offences following search warrants in connection to a shooting in Belconnen in April.

About 2:50am on 25 April (2026), two men in a vehicle were shot while travelling along College Street in Belconnen.

Following investigations into the incident, police executed search warrants at residences in Holt and Moncrieff this morning (Wednesday, 3 June 2026).

During the warrants, officers located a rifle, ammunition in various calibres as well as evidence relating to the ongoing shooting investigation.

The 24-year-old man was arrested at the Holt residence and has been charged with unauthorised possession of a firearm, possessing ammunition generally, breach of bail and contravening a 3LA order.

He is due to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today.
