A 39-year-old Bonner man has been charged after he allegedly threatened loss prevention officers that are due to testify in an upcoming court matter.

About 11:05am on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, the man who is facing theft and assault charges for an incident at a Gungahlin supermarket in July 2025 encountered three loss prevention officers at Gungahlin Marketplace.

It is alleged the man approached the group and directed abusive language toward them. Police will further allege the man threatened the witnesses in relation to an upcoming court matter. He also allegedly repeatedly attempted to provoke them into a confrontation.

Following review of CCTV footage and witness statements police arrested the man yesterday (Friday, 19 June 2026).

He will face the ACT Magistrates court today (Saturday, 20 June 2026) charged with two counts of threatening a witness, offensive behaviour and affray.
