A 32-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly assaulted his former partner and lied to hospital staff about her injuries.

On 17 May, the man attended his former partner’s home, breaching a family violence order.

When the woman tried to get the man to leave, he allegedly closed a door on her arm, causing serious injuries.

The victim tried to call an ambulance but he allegedly threw her phone at a wall and then drove her to hospital himself. When they were asked by staff how she became injured, he lied.

The incident was reported to police and the 32-year-old man was arrested in Taylor yesterday morning.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 4 June 2026), charged with aggravated common assault, aggravated property damage, and contravening a family violence order.
