A 30-year-old man has been charged and two firearms and ammunition seized following a search warrant at a Moncrieff home yesterday.
Yesterday morning, (Tuesday, 16 June 2026) Gungahlin Police Station officers attended a home in Moncrieff to execute a search warrant.
After being initially refused entry, police forced entry and then heard movement in the roof space.
An initial search of the home located ammunition, so AFP Tactical Response officers were called as well as specialist negotiators.
After about two hours of negotiations, a 30-year-old man (who was subject to an arrest warrant) voluntarily exited the roof space and was placed under arrest. He was charged with failing to appear in court after a bail undertaking and breach of bail.
A comprehensive search of the home later located a foldable single shot pistol, a shortened double barrel shotgun, a quantity of drugs, stolen number plates and a can of OC spray.
Investigations into this matter are continuing, and additional charges may be laid.
Anyone who has information about the possession of illegal firearms is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
