A 25-year-old man has been arrested for breaching his parole conditions and a shotgun has been seized following a police operation in Chifley yesterday.
In April, a warrant was issued for the man’s arrest after he allegedly violated his parole conditions.
Following enquiries by ACT Policing’s Proactive Intervention and Diversion Team, the man was believed to be in a home in Chifley.
Yesterday (Wednesday, 10 June 2026), with assistance from AFP Specialist Operations, police attended the residence to arrest the man. After several hours of negotiation, he surrendered himself to police.
During a subsequent search of the home, police located a shotgun and dozens of shotgun shells.
The man is also believed to have been involved in multiple vehicle thefts and burglaries across Canberra. Enquiries into those offences and the possession of the firearm and ammunition are ongoing and further charges are likely.
He is due to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 11 June 2026).
