A 42-year-old man will face court after he allegedly shoved and hit security guards at a supermarket last night.
About 9:30pm (Thursday, 18 June 2026), the man was observed inside a supermarket in the Canberra Centre, contravening a banning notice issued by the store.
Security staff told the man to leave and while outside the store, he got into a verbal altercation with them before claiming to have a knife on him.
He then allegedly shoved one security guard and struck another in the face. They restrained the man and he was arrested by police a short time later.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 19 June 2026), charged with two counts of assault and one count of trespassing.
