ACT Policing has seized a 4WD following investigations into recent sportsgrounds damage in the ACT.
On Tuesday 19 May (2026) a black Toyota Hilux was observed conducting burnouts on the Wanniassa playing fields and officers at Tuggeranong Police Station commenced an investigation into the matter.
About 12:55 today (Tuesday 16 June 2026) Road Policing officers conducted a traffic stop on a black Toyota Hilux on the Monaro Highway at Hume and confirmed it was the same vehicle involved in the sports ground damage incident on 19 May.
The 4WD was seized and the 18-year-old male driver from Karabar, New South Wales was taken into custody.
Enquiries into the 19 May incident are ongoing and police are continuing to seek public assistance in relation to this and other instances of sports ground damage.
Police are urging anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of these incidents to come forward.
