A 36-year-old Holt woman has been charged with multiple driving offences after she was allegedly caught drink driving at more than eight times the legal limit.
Between 5pm and 7:30pm yesterday (Thursday, 23 July 2026), police received multiple reports of a grey Kia Sorento driving erratically on Wattle Street and Ginninderra Drive in Lyneham.
The vehicle was allegedly driving onto gutters, swerving across lanes, rapidly accelerating and deaccelerating, and on one occasion reversed into a parked vehicle.
About 8pm, police located the Kia Sorrento reversing out of a driveway in Macgregor. Officers approached the vehicle and observed the woman in the driver’s seat and three young children also in the car. Police believe the three children were in the vehicle during the whole incident.
The woman was placed under arrest for breaching her bail conditions. She underwent an alcohol breath screening test, which returned a positive result.
She was conveyed to Belconnen Police Station, where she returned a breath analysis result of 0.416, more than eight times the legal alcohol limit.
The woman, who was on bail for similar offences, will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 24 July 2026) charged with driving motor vehicle with alcohol in breath, driving while licence suspended, DUI drive under influence of liquor, crash – not give particulars to owner damage property and breaching her bail conditions.
Police would like to thank the public for reporting the vehicle driving dangerously, which assisted officers to locate the driver and likely prevent a more serious collision.
Police are urging anyone who has dashcam footage of the grey Kia Sorrento with ACT registration YRO00N last night between 5pm and 7:30pm to come forward.
