ACT Policing has charged two people following separate incidents including an alleged shoplifting matter and multiple alleged breaches of a Workplace Protection Order.
About 3.20pm yesterday (Wednesday, 8 July 2026) a 34-year-old woman, who was subjected to a good behaviour order, entered a retail store in the Canberra Centre and allegedly stole several items before leaving the store without paying.
A store employee alerted police officers conducting foot patrols, providing a description of the woman.
A short time later, officers located the woman and recovered the items allegedly stolen from the store. She was arrested taken to the ACT Watchhouse.
Between 1 July and 8 July 2026, a 27-year-old man entered an Erindale supermarket on multiple occasions in breach of a Workplace Protection order.
He was identified by police following review of CCTV, and yesterday afternoon was arrested. Police will also allege the man was released from custody on 1 July and while still subject to the Workplace Protection Order, breached that order the same day.
The woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 09 July 2026) charged with theft and breach a good behaviour order.
The man will who was also subject to a good behaviour order will face the ACT Magistrates Court charged with six counts of contravention of a protection order and breaching a good behaviour order.
