Three drivers will face court after allegedly committing a range of traffic offences across Canberra last night.
About 6:55pm (Tuesday, 28 July 2026), ACT Road Policing officers observed a silver Holden Captiva travelling northbound on Tuggeranong Parkway through Molonglo Valley.
Police will allege the vehicle was travelling at 124km/h in a 90km/h zone, following other vehicles too closely and failed to stop when directed by police.
Officers located the 48-year-old driver at a home in Kaleen where he was arrested. The Queanbeyan man returned a positive roadside drug test for methamphetamine and will face the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date charged with failing to stop for police and driving with a prescribed drug in oral fluid.
About 7:10pm, police observed a black Volkswagen Golf travelling on Goldstein Crescent, Chisholm.
The vehicle accelerated away from police before being located parked on Alston Street a short time later with the driver and three children inside.
The driver, a 43-year-old Farrer woman, returned positive drug tests for methamphetamine and cannabis. She is scheduled to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court in November charged with driving while disqualified and driving with a prescribed drug in oral fluid.
About 11:15pm, police stopped a black Ford Escape on Canberra Avenue, Fyshwick.
Checks revealed the 25-year-old Queanbeyan driver's NSW learner licence was suspended and the vehicle was unregistered. The driver returned a positive roadside drug test to cannabis and methamphetamine, while multiple vehicle defects observed by police resulted in the vehicle being deemed unroadworthy.
He will face the ACT Magistrates court at a later date charged with drug driving, driving with a suspended licence, using an unregistered motor vehicle, using an uninsured motor vehicle, and driving an unsafely maintained motor vehicle.
ACT Policing reminds motorists that impaired driving, including drink and drug driving, places all road users at risk. Police will continue proactive patrols and enforcement activities to improve road safety across the ACT.
