Officers injured following arrest in Narrabundah

A 30-year-old Macgregor man has been charged after allegedly failing to stop for police and resisting arrest early this morning.

About 2:50am today (Monday, 20 July 2026) officers were conducting patrols at a car park in Narrabundah when they observed a KTM motorcycle ride into the car park.

Police approached the motorcycle and directed the rider to stop. The rider then tried to accelerate away from police.

Officers attempted to apprehend the male rider but he resisted arrest and a short struggle ensued, causing minor injuries to two members.

The man was eventually hand cuffed and placed under arrest. He underwent an alcohol screening test which showed a positive result.

Police conducted a search of the man and his backpack and found numerous items associated with burglaries. Checks on the man’s motorcycle also revealed that it was stolen.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 20 July 2026) charged with failing to stop motor vehicle for police, riding motor vehicle without consent, attempting to resist territory official, going equipped for theft and driving motor vehicle with alcohol in breath.
