A 19-year-old Gordon man has lost his provisional licence after being caught speeding at 162km\h in a sign posted 80km/h area.
About 8.30pm last night (Wednesday, 8 July 2026) ACT Road Policing officers were conducting patrols on Adelaide Avenue, Deakin, when they observed a motorcycle travelling southbound at a speed significantly above the speed limit.
Police will allege the rider continued to travel dangerously, overtaking other vehicles at high speed. Officers detected the motorcycle travelling at 162km/h, more than two times the sign posted speed limit.
A short time later, police stopped the motorcycle on Yamba Drive, Garran.
The man’s licence was immediately suspended for 90 days and his motorcycle was seized.
ACT Policing is seeking dash-cam footage from anyone who witnessed the incident or who captured the motorcycle travelling on Adelaide Avenue, Deakin, or Yamba Drive, Garran, between 8.30pm and 8.40pm on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
