A 34-year-old Kingston man has been extradited from Goulburn to face driving and firearms charges.
In January (2026) a black 2023 Yamaha XSR900 was allegedly stolen from a secure carpark. Later that month, the stolen motorcycle was observed to be ridden in a dangerous manner while in Macquarie and Kingston. Witnesses reported the rider appeared to be under the influence of a substance.
After these witness reports, the motorcycle was located in Kingston. Officers conducted local enquiries and a search warrant was executed at a unit on Wentworth Avenue in Kingston.
During the warrant, a small loaded handgun, a taser and a Yamaha motorcycle key (matching the stolen motorcycle) were located in the unit. The motorcycle was seized, however the rider was unable to be located.
Further enquiries by Belconnen and City general duties officers confirmed the identity of the man police will allege was observed riding the motorcycle and who was the owner of the seized items.
An arrest warrant for the man was issued last week and after liaising with NSW Police, the man was identified staying in a motel in Yass (NSW).
On Friday (17 July 2026) the man was subsequently arrested by NSW Police and faced court in Goulburn for extradition to the ACT.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 20 July 2026) charged with ride/drive motor vehicle without consent and unauthorised possession of prohibited firearms.
