ACT Policing has arrested a 37-year-old Gordon man – who was subjected to bail conditions at the time of his arrest – following an alleged family violence incident on Wednesday night.

About 9:45pm on Wednesday (1 July 2026), police attended a residence in Gordon following reports of a disturbance between the man and his former partner.

Police will allege the man threatened to kill the woman, damaged her property, assaulted her, and punched a dog during the incident.

The woman subsequently left the residence and sought assistance from a nearby neighbour, who contacted police.

Officers attended a short time later and commenced an investigation.

The man was subsequently arrested in relation to an unrelated matter and released on bail by the ACT Magistrates Court the following day.

Following further inquiries into the family violence incident, the man was arrested at his Gordon address on Friday night (3 July 2026).

The man is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 4 July 2026) charged with multiple family violence offences including reckless threat to kill a person, destroy property, hitting animal and common assault.

ACT Policing stands ready to assist victims experiencing family violence.
