A 31-year-old man has been charged with multiple driving offences following an overnight pursuit through south Tuggeranong suburbs.

Yesterday afternoon (Sunday 11 January 2026), police received a report regarding a white Toyota Landcruiser that had been stolen from Deakin Oval.

A short time later, police located the stolen Landcruiser at a residence in Conder.

Officers observed the man enter the Landcruiser before driving off. Tyre deflation devices were deployed, deflating the front and rear right tyres of the vehicle.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle on Box Hill Avenue in Conder after the Landcruiser was observed driving at 150km/h in a 60km/h zone, narrowly avoiding colliding with several vehicles and pedestrians.

The driver failed to stop and continued driving dangerously along footpaths and a sports field, forcing members of the public to run for safety.

Police continued the pursuit through Gordon before losing sight of the vehicle. A short time later it collided with a parked car in Isabella Plains before stopping in Calwell.

The driver fled the scene and ran into the backyard of a nearby residence. The AFP Canine team located the man hiding under a wooden deck, and he was placed under arrest.

Officers searched a black bag in the man’s possession, locating a small bag with suspected methylamphetamine and stolen bank cards.

The 31-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday 12 January 2026) charged with failing to stop motor vehicle for police, aggravated dangerous driving, driving motor vehicle without consent, unlawful possession of stolen property and driving while disqualified.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed or has dashcam footage of the incident or vehicle to come forward.
