Man charged with sexual assault

A 33-year-old man will face court today after allegedly sexually assaulting his prospective housemate on Sunday evening.

About 5pm on Sunday (4 January 2025), the man and a woman had dinner at his home in Bruce before she planned to move in.

A short time later the woman fell asleep and when she woke up later in the evening, the man was allegedly assaulting her in his bed.

About 11:30pm, police were called to the residence for a separate matter. After speaking to the woman, she was taken to hospital and he was arrested.

He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 6 January 2026), charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
