Man charged with family violence offences

A 25-year-old Hughes man has been charged after allegedly assaulting his partner.

About 3.00pm yesterday (Friday, 9 January 2026) police were called to a residence in Hughes where a man has allegedly kicked, bitten and strangled his partner.

The man, who was on parole, was arrested a short time later and transported to the ACT Watchhouse. He will face the ACT Magistrates court today (Saturday, 10 January 2026) charged with aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, aggravated common assault and strangle another person.
