Witnesses sought to Holder explosive device

ACT policing is seeking witnesses following the detonation of an explosive device on the Holder Oval yesterday morning.

About 5.00am yesterday (Thursday, 12 February 2026) multiple members of the public reported an explosion from the direction of the Holder Oval.

About 9.45am that morning, a member of the public discovered a suspicious item on Holder Oval. Police attended the location and set up a cordon after assessing the item as a possible home-made explosive device. Specialists from the AFP Bomb Team attended to examine the item and confirm if it was safe to handle.

Soon after, the item was confirmed to not be dangerous. Forensic specialists attended the location and seized the item for further investigation.
