Three to face court for family violence incidents

Three people will face court this morning following family violence incidents across the ACT in the past 24 hours.

At lunchtime yesterday (Friday, 6 February 2026), a 20-year-old Richardson man allegedly verbally abused his partner and made threats to her after throwing furniture in their residence.

He was charged with affray and recklessly threatening to inflict grievous bodily harm.

Last night a 21-year-old Bonner woman allegedly slapped and headbutted her partner before allegedly assaulting another person who intervened.

She was charged with aggravated common assault, aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and common assault.

Also, last night a 36-year-old Symonston man allegedly punched and attempted to strangle his partner following an argument.

He was charged with aggravated common assault, and two counts of chokes/suffocates/strangles another person.

The two men and a woman were all arrested, transported to the ACT Watch House and are expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 7 February 2026).
