ACT Policing has extradited a 29-year-old man after he fled interstate while waiting to be sentenced for a robbery from 2022.
The man was due to be sentenced by the ACT Supreme Court after he and another man robbed a man at knifepoint in Gungahlin in August 2022.
The man was arrested the same day and charged with joint commission aggravated robbery and theft.
He pleaded guilty in March 2023 and was released on bail ahead of his sentencing in April 2024.
Police will allege he failed to appear before court and fled interstate.
Enquiries identified he was serving a sentence in a NSW prison and following his release on Tuesday (24 February 2026), he was arrested by ACT Policing officers and extradited to Canberra.
He is due to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Thursday, 26 February 2026), charged with failing to attend the Supreme Court.
