A 38-year-old man has been charged after allegedly knocking his former partner and another woman unconscious during an altercation.
About 3:30am on Sunday (8 February 2026), the man was approached by his former partner and her family member on Mort Street in the City.
Police will allege following an altercation, the man hit the two women, knocking them both unconscious.
A bystander attempted to help the women, but the man allegedly struck her in the head as well.
Other witnesses provided assistance to the women and the man was arrested by police a short time later. A search of his belongings uncovered a bag of a white powder substance suspected of being cocaine.
He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 9 February 2026), charged with family violence assault, assault, affray, and possessing a drug of dependence.
