3 people arrested following knife point car theft

Two men and a woman were arrested yesterday afternoon following the alleged knifepoint theft of a vehicle earlier this week and multiple other offences in February.

Police will allege members of the group are responsible for multiple recent violent incidents including:

  • About 9pm on Thursday, 5 February (2026), members of this trio were allegedly involved in an aggravated burglary at a residence in Isabella Plains. A safe was stolen from the residence with members of the public locating it abandoned in Greenway.
  • On 10 February, a woman attended a Cash Converters store and exchanged jewellery for cash. Police will allege the items were stolen.
  • About 11:40am on Wednesday, 11 February (2026), a 23-year-old man allegedly attempted to enter a locked green Audi S3 parked in the driveway of a residence in Kambah.
  • About 3pm the same day, it is alleged that the man stole a large postage box containing multiple items of clothing from the front doorstep of a residence in Denman Prospect.
  • About 9:50am on Monday (16 February 2026) a man allegedly threatened another man with a silver knife and stole his silver Volkswagen Passat from a carpark in Holt.
  • On 24 February (2026) a 28-year-old allegedly stole a watch and attempted to steal mobile phone using force at a car-wash while seeking to inspect a second-hand vehicle for sale
  • About 6pm the same day, (24 February 2026) a 23-year-old man allegedly threatened a vehicle owner with a hunting knife, before stealing his red Volkswagen Golf
  • About 7:20pm, a 23-year-old attended a residence in Wanniassa to inspect an Audi A4, before allegedly threating a woman with a knife attempting to steal the vehicle. The woman’s son threatened him with a crowbar causing him to flee the scene.

As part of ongoing investigations into this group, ACT Policing Criminal Investigations Officers executed a search warrant at a residence in Kambah on 12 February (2026). Multiple items including clothing worn during the alleged offending, mobile phones, a vehicle and weapons were seized.

About 11:30am yesterday (Friday, 27 February 2026) three people in a Holden Rodeo utility (owned by the mother of one of the group) were observed in a carpark at the Canberra Airport with a woman engaging with people in a Ford Mustang coupe. All three in the utility were arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House. They were subsequently charged with the following offences:

A 23-year-old woman has been charged with possessing property suspected of being proceeds of crime and riding in motor vehicle without consent.

A 23-year-old man has been charged with joint commission aggravated burglary - intent to commit theft, joint commission aggravated burglary (offensive weapon), joint commission theft, attempt joint commission aggravated burglary (in company), aggravated robbery (offensive weapon), attempt aggravated robbery (offensive weapon), ride/drive motor vehicle without consent, theft and unauthorised entry of a motor vehicle.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with joint commission aggravated burglary - intent to commit theft, joint commission aggravated burglary (offensive weapon), joint commission theft, attempt joint commission aggravated burglary (in company), unauthorised entry of a motor vehicle and contravene requirement in order under S3LA. The woman received police bail and will appear in court at a later date. The 23-year-old and the 28-year-old are scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 28 February 2026).

A fourth man associated with this group was arrested on 17 February (2026) and he has been remanded after being charged with family violence offences of aggravated burglary – attempt to commit theft, aggravated attempt to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Enquiries into these incidents are continuing. Further charges may be laid.
