ACT Policing has charged three teenage boys following an alleged shop theft at a retailer in Woden yesterday.
About 3:30pm yesterday (Wednesday, 12 August 2026), a group of five youths entered a sports clothing store at a Woden shopping centre and left with items without paying for them.
During the incident, police will allege one of the youths threatened a staff member who was attempting to stop them from leaving.
The incident was reported to police and following a search, two 17-year-olds and one 16-year-old were located nearby and arrested.
Police located backpacks in the vicinity containing clothing with retail tags still attached. The items were later identified as property stolen from the store.
All three youths, one who is in breach of bail obligations and one who is in breach of a good behaviour order, will face the ACT Childrens Court today (Thursday, 13 August 2026) charged with aggravated robbery in company.
ACT Policing reminds the community that retail theft and threatening behaviour towards retail workers will not be tolerated. Police will continue to work with retailers to identify and apprehend offenders and hold them accountable through the courts.
