A teenage boy has been charged after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle through Canberra’s southside before being arrested yesterday.

Police will allege a grey Toyota LandCruiser was stolen from Duffy between Tuesday (11 August 2026) and Wednesday (12 August 2026) after offenders entered a residence and stole vehicle keys.

About 3:45pm yesterday (Thursday, 14 August 2026), police observed the stolen LandCruiser in Greenway, allegedly being driven above the posted speed limit and evading police.

A short time later, officers sighted the vehicle in Kambah but when officers approached, the driver evaded police again.

About 3:55pm, police received information from a member of the public that the vehicle had been abandoned in a car park in Waramanga, with two youths seen running from the area.

Following a search, police located the 15-year-old boy hiding in a residential rubbish bin at a Stirling residence.

He was arrested and will face the ACT Childrens Court today (Friday, 14 August 2026), charged with driving a motor vehicle without consent and driving while unlicenced.
