An 18-year-old Holt man has been charged after allegedly driving dangerously through Gungahlin on Sunday afternoon.
About 4:30pm on Sunday (16 August 2026), ACT Policing officers observed a silver Ford Falcon without number plates on Gundaroo Drive, Giralang.
Police will allege the vehicle was being driven in a dangerous manner, including travelling at speed, weaving through traffic and performing burnouts at roundabouts.
Police deployed tyre deflation devices and directed the driver to stop. The driver allegedly failed to comply and a pursuit was commenced.
The vehicle continued travelling on damaged tyres before entering nearby greenbelt. The driver and two passengers then fled on foot.
All three occupants were quickly apprehended by police.
The driver will face the ACT Magistrates Court in October (2026), charged with furious/reckless/dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, using an unregistered vehicle, using an uninsured vehicle, and trespassing.
Anyone who witnessed the driving behaviour of the silver Ford Falcon and has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact Crime Stoppers via www.crimestoppers.com.au, quoting reference number 8473458.
