A 42-year-old Lyneham man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today after allegedly assaulting police and damaging a home yesterday afternoon.

About 2pm yesterday (Thursday, 6 August 2026), the man attended a residence Lyneham but was told to leave by the occupant.

It is alleged the man then demanded the resident come outside before he damaged a security screen door and threw a large rock through a kitchen window.

The resident contacted police, who attended the scene a short time later.

About 2:30pm, police located the man at a nearby address in Lyneham and placed him under arrest. Police will allege the man then made threats towards officers and headbutted an officer.

The man, who was subject to good behaviour obligations, will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Friday, 7 August 2026), charged with assaulting a frontline community service provider, resisting a territory public official, threatening to endanger a person's health and safety, and property damage.
