Learner driver caught drink driving in Gordon

A 31-year-old NSW man will face court today after he was allegedly caught drink driving in Gordon last night.

About 9:20pm (Friday 28 August 2026), police conducted a traffic stop on a white Toyota Landcruiser on Jim Pike Avenue in Gordon.

Police checks revealed the driver held a learner licence and was the sole occupant of the vehicle, making him an unaccompanied learner driver. Officers also observed the vehicle was not displaying L plates.

The man underwent a roadside breath screening test, which returned a positive result.

He was conveyed to Tuggeranong Police Station, where further breath analysis recorded a reading of 0.100 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath.

The 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with driving a motor vehicle with alcohol in breath, learner driver unaccompanied, learner driver not displaying L plates as required, using unregistered vehicle and arrest warrant.

He is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Saturday, 29 August 2026).
