A 32-year-old Macquarie woman has been charged with multiple commonwealth property damage offences following repeated graffiti incidents in Parkes.
In November last year (2025) and six times between 1 and 16 April this year (2026) the King George Memorial in Parkes was subject to graffiti incidents with various words and slogans spray painted onto the memorial. These incidents have cumulatively caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage to the memorial.
Following a review of CCTV, witness footage and social media postings, a possible offender was identified.
Yesterday (21 April 2026), police attended a residence in Macquarie and executed a search warrant where multiple items linking the women to the incidents were located, including cans of spray paint.
She was subsequently charged with seven counts of damaging commonwealth property. She is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 22 April 2026).
Anyone who has additional information about these incidents, including anyone who witnessed the woman allegedly spray painting the King George Memorial in November or April, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers via www.crimestoppersact.com.au.
